Valentine's Day falls on a Monday, February 14th 2022. This year it will be on a school day here at Hilliard Bradley High School. For some students that means it’s a good day and for others maybe the exact opposite. Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love and has been around since the fifth century. The Jaguar Times takes a look at students' feelings regarding Valentine’s Day at Bradley.

Just like every other high school Bradley is filled with couples. They are super excited to celebrate this special day with their significant other this year at school. Freshman Bryan Nashalsky says, “While being in a relationship, it is a really nice way to celebrate each other and your all around relationship”. I believe that this perspective of Valentine’s Day is actually very valid but, I just feel like it’s any other day here. Couples still walk around here at Bradley and hug in the hallways. Valentine’s Day is just super overrated, especially when you don't have anyone on this day to give you gifts and chocolates.

On another note there are always those people who aren’t exactly in a relationship… maybe wishing they had a nice box of chocolates though. Freshman Katey Kirk states that, “It’s not for everyone, so it shouldn’t be a thing because I don’t have a lover.” Like Katey says, it's definitely not a holiday that everyone loves and adores. It’s not easy to watch everyone seem to be happy in their relationships on this day especially when you are alone.

I believe that this day can be good in many ways especially if you have traditions with your family or friends despite your relationship status. You don’t just have to express your love for someone you're in a relationship with. It can be anyone that has been there to support you through it all.

This holiday almost in a way gives you a chance to express gratitude. We can all make the most of this holiday at school together. Spread kindness, and be content with our own lives even when we think others have it all. Embrace every moment you spend here at Bradley, even on Valentine’s Day!
