Over my entire lifetime, I have learned that everyone has one common favorite when it comes to breakfast: pancakes. I have also learned that when you hear the word, pancakes, it could mean a variety of different things. Each type of pancake offers a different experience and some people feel especially strong towards certain types of the delicious breakfast food. The flavors truly can have a large variety therefore, Bradley rates some of the most popular pancakes.
Original
You really can’t go wrong with an original pancake, especially when it comes to what to top it off with. The toppings that you choose to put on an original pancake really do make a big difference. Olivia Solokha (10) claims that “The original pancake with whipped cream, maple syrup, and raspberries always hit.” Not only do Bradley students appear to be a fan of an original pancake with toppings, but so does the staff. French teacher, Mrs. Lawrence explains that her favorite type of pancakes are “sourdough pancakes with real maple syrup.” There are so many different options to choose from when deciding what to top your pancakes with, but typically the original pancake is the only pancake acceptable by the people amongst Bradley to top off.
Chocolate Chip
Another favorite are classic, chocolate chip pancakes. The only way you could really go wrong with this one is if you don’t like chocolate. However, there is a variety of chocolate chips to choose from when making your pancake. Whether this includes milk, dark, or even white chocolate chips. You can choose your favorite to include. Sophia Morvay (12) claims that this is her favorite type because they “really hit the spot everytime.” Once again, you really can’t go wrong. Its basic, yet still not too basic, which makes it an enjoyable breakfast food.
Banana
This is a type of pancake I have never personally tried myself, but might consider making soon. Bradley senior, Abby Meister, seems passionate about this kind of pancake. She explains that it’s her favorite type because of “the first time [she] ever had them. She continues by explaining she “was with [her] brother and it was a super cute memory.” Not only are banana pancakes delicious according to Meister, but they are also associated with good memories. Sometimes there are foods that we enjoy because of the first time we tried them and the memories that they bring back. In my opinion, these are the best types of foods.
Blueberry
A basic, but amazing pancake is the blueberry pancake. It didn’t seem like there were many fans at Bradley of this kind, but it is my personal favorite. I love when the blueberries get all melty and you take a bite and fall in love with the delicious taste. However, it would be understood why some may not like this type if they don’t like blueberries to begin with.
Apple Cinnamon
I decided to experiment with different types of pancakes a little bit. I ended up peeling and chopping up some apples and adding some cinnamon to the pancake batter. With this, I made an apple cinnamon pancake and instantly began to love it. It was a perfect type of breakfast food for a fall morning. However, I wish I would've made the apples softer prior to putting them in the pancakes to please my texture needs, but the pancake was still delicious. It was almost delicious enough to trump the blueberry pancake’s number one spot.
Which type of pancake is really the best? That’s truly up for the reader’s discretion. Regardless, make your experience fun. Even if you aren’t a pancake stan, I encourage you to try your pancakes a different way. Whether this includes new inclusions in your pancakes or fun toppings, make it your own. Happy pancake eating!
