The movie Avengers Endgame marked the conclusion of many marvel hero character arcs, including Iron Man's death and Captain America passing on his shield. These conclusions to popular Avengers characters and the countless spin-off series airing on Disney plus leave many Marvel fans wondering, what does the future hold for Avengers movies?
Looking through the internet for an answer to this question you’ll be able to come across a variety of different answers and opinions on what the future of the series looks like. “Does End Game mark the end of Avengers as a whole?” and “Will Spider-Man take Tony Stark's place as the new leader of the Avengers?” are just a few of the questions theorists on the topic attempt to answer. Some of these opinions clash with others making it an argument for just about anyone following the series.
To get a better idea of what some of these theories entail, others have voiced their opinions on the topic. Bradley Sophomore Gabriel Siphon, who considers himself as someone who knows the Avengers series quite well, describes whether or not he thinks Avengers movies should end as a whole following the conclusion of Avengers: End Game. Gabriel explains, “No, because I feel like there’s a lot more they can fill in, especially with Captain America.” I myself agree with this standpoint but was unable to understand how they would reincorporate Captain America as his character arc had ended.Gabriel continued by explaining “I feel like [the Avengers] should be able to bring him back from the past again and make a whole other movie about that.” Upon consideration, this idea could make for an interesting Avengers movie. It would feature the new team of heroes further messing with time travel to bring Captain America back from the past. However, it seems unlikely due to the fact that Chris Evans’s (the person who plays Captain America) contract with Marvel ended following the conclusion of Avengers: EndGame
When Sebastian Penaherrera attempted to describe how Iron man’s death would impact the future of the Avengers series, he explained “[the Avengers] won’t have a billionaire supporting their money so they’ll have a worse base.” In my opinion, that is a valid answer due to the fact that Tony Stark or Iron man's fortune was supporting the vast majority of Avengers funds. Additionally on top of Iron Man's death affecting the Avengers’s financial issues I think it will affect so much more. For example, if criminals in the area see one of the top superheroes has died they will seize it as an opportunity to run rampant and as a result, crime rates will increase begging for a new era of heroes.
When Mr. Gmerek was asked to explain his thoughts on how Iron Man's death would impact the future of the series, he took a different approach than Sebastian. He began by explaining “assuming they would make another movie, I suppose [the Avengers] would actually have to have superhumans as opposed to normal humans.” He continues by explaining “this is because [iron man] was involved in so much of the technology that allowed someone like him who is just a normal human to have super powers.” I once again believe this standpoint is completely valid. This is because if you take into consideration that only two of the avengers, Iron man and Hawkeye, had no super powers and now Iron Man is dead, then you may realize just how many super humans the Avengers is actually made up of; therefore if the movies want to continue thriving they may need more powerful heroes.
In the end due to the various theories that fans are constantly coming up with, whatever Marvel decides to do with the future of the Avengers series could have a lasting impact on its fans who are looking forward to seeing what Marvel has to further offer.
