A large number of students believe history is boring, and there’s no doubt about that. However, the subject can be extremely important at all times, especially knowing how certain things are started.

By learning about the world’s struggles back then, we can avoid those same struggles by doing something differently. Just like what Ms. Watts, English teacher, says, “How can we know what to do in the future if we don’t learn from the past?” Without knowing what happened in the country, let alone the world, back then, we wouldn’t know what to do to be successful today.

There are some students, like Z Galore (10) who take a difficult history class. When asked why history might be important, she responds with a funny, but true, “It’s important to know so that I don’t fail my final.” This wasn’t quite the answer anyone was looking for, but no one would pass their exam without knowing anything about the subject.

On the other hand, there was a lot of repeated material. Mainly the fact that history cannot be repeated as long as we avoid things, such as wars and passing laws. Which is what Makenzie Self (11) explains, “History is important so that we don’t repeat wars.” With the state the world is in currently, we can’t risk getting into a deadly war.

Even though the class might be boring, or at times, difficult, it’s extremely crucial to know the history of our world. If you’re a history buff, you’re on the right track. Regardless, you should always pay attention in your history class, no matter how bored you may be.
