Students at Bradley are excited to enjoy Valentine’s Day with their friends and dates. Valentine’s Day falls on the same day every year, February 14th. It’s meant to be celebrated with friends and couples, but many disagree about the importance of the holiday.

Some people choose to celebrate and some do not. Makierlynn Bevan (11) shares what she does for Valentine’s Day: “Usually for V-day, I will go to my boyfriend’s house and we will do a gift exchange and hang out for a little bit and then we always go out to a nice little dinner and get dressed up.” This seems like a fun tradition to make with your valentine.

Mrs. Adams, Geometry teacher, is spending her day in a different way. She says, “it’s not my favorite holiday. It’s also parent conference day, but it’s okay. I have been with my fiancé for twelve years so we’ve spent pretty much every Valentine’s Day together so I’m kind of bummed but that’s okay.” There are always ways to work around things together. Mrs. Adams will still be spending time with her fiancé after work.

Peyton Brooks (10) talks about enjoying the special day with his girlfriend. He says, “what I enjoy about Valentine’s Day is you get to express your feelings to your valentine and the gift exchange.” There are numerous ways for people to show their love and it seems like gift exchanges are common.

Mrs. Keller, sophomore English teacher and NHS advisor says, “Valentine’s day isn’t a big deal to me, but it’s still a fun reason to celebrate with the people you love. But we don’t go overboard, and it doesn’t have to be the day of. Especially this year because we have conferences.” Mrs. Keller makes a great point that people can celebrate anytime to show their appreciation for the people in their lives.
