The only “Food Fight” that was not messy

On Saturday, May 11th, local teen bands gathered together to fight... for hunger. Multiple Bradley students such as Lance Murdoch, Luke Burgo, and Dylan Evans organized the event for their capstone project, a graduation requirement. As members of a band called “Split Point” they knew they should hold a charity show, which they named “Food Fight.”

Along the way to gathering a fan group, Split Point met many other bands and people. They connected with the Hilliard Food Pantry and asked to hold an event that would benefit the organization. The food pantry has been trying for quite some time to get young people to help out. So, the band collected sponsor money and got to work. After printing banners and tee-shirts they also connected with food trucks to find some who would cater at the venue.

Lance Murdoch (12) said that “[he] used all of his connections… to set up a group of popular local bands.” They even collaborated with a Darby student, Christopher Burch (12) who helped with the video system to project multiple short films, music videos and documentaries made by fellow students. Burch (12) showcased his own documentary about the Darby band called Run It Back. This was played in the intermission and many people enjoyed it.

The cost to get in was $5, but if you wished to buy any merchandise such as tee-shirts, posters or stickers, it cost extra. Overall the group of students collected a total of $2,400 for the Hilliard Food Pantry. Not only was the event entertaining, it was absolutely an awesome charity event.
