Everyone gets the distinct thought about what components make up the best spring break experience. From beaches to mountains, rocky roads to city roads, there are numerous ways to enjoy the time off. For those living in colder climates, it’s natural to dream of that beach feeling of relaxation! However, this year’s spring break will look completely different, instead of mass parties you’ll see masks and dividers. While we all want to get out and have fun, we must be sure to do it safely. Wherever you're headed this year, just make sure to come back healthy!
After asking numerous students at Bradley High School, and throughout Columbus, it’s become clear that it is safe to travel only with correct safety protocols. I asked a total of 115 students and parents if it was a safe idea to travel out of state this year. A whopping 95 of them said “Yes, with correct protocols”. Of those same 115 people, 84 of them are indeed traveling! It’s good to see that the effects of Covid aren’t too serious this time around. Hearts were broken with the devastating cancellations of numerous spring trips in 2020 due to Covid. While some people will never get the chance to enjoy a high school spring trip, numerous people and students are jumping on the chance this year.
The Jag Times decided to ask some students and faculty at Bradley personally about how they’re feeling with safety protocols, and they’re travel plans specifically. When I asked Hilliard Bradley senior, Skyler Green, about her concerns and plans, she stated that “It's not spring break that I’m nervous about, I’m only worried for people who don’t want to follow protocols.” She will also be traveling to Cape Coral, Florida! With Florida being a highly populated state for tourists, she’ll have to make sure she stays masked up along with all other visitors! Another person I asked personally was assistant principal Mr. Hamilton. He stated that he and his family would be soaking up some sun in the sunshine state of Florida as well! He and his family will definitely be following CDC guidelines to ensure their safety.
It is recommended to wear a mask whenever you leave the house, and stay 3 feet away from another person at all times. While this may be difficult, I know we can all do it to assure a fun and safe vacation for everyone. Seniors here at Bradley have worked extremely hard so they deserve a relaxing spring break! Stay safe and mask up!
