Many students and teachers celebrate the new year for many reasons; new beginnings, new opportunities, and simply because the previous year is over. Many major events happened in 2022; COVID-19 eases, inflation rises, Russian invasion, NFL under fire for concussion protocol, and so much more.

However, while the world was going through a different issue every month, Bradley stayed stable and kept positive. Bringing in new traditions and continuing old ones, we participated in many events. Football on friday nights, homecoming, senior Thanksgiving, distribution of turkey grams and more allowed for students and teachers to find peace within the building.

Students started the year off strong with normal Football Friday Nights back. Previous years had been disrupted by the ongoing pandemic which made it hard to enjoy many normal highschool experiences. Abby Meister (12) says, “my favorite school memory in 2022 was the fall sports assembly.” While the weather wasn't great for the powder puff game and the seniors took an unfortunate loss, the assembly was one to remember. Katie Chrisitan (12) claims her favorite memory from 2022 was, “being able to participate in extracurriculars since Covid.” Many seniors felt their high school experience was cut short, so 2022 was refreshing because they got to go out with a bang and create a ton of new memories.

Heading forward into 2023, staff and students set goals of all sizes. Academic or not, goals can create productivity and wellness. Mrs. Gmerek says, “I’m going to keep track of what I read, … [to] make recommendations to other people [as well as] remember all the good books I read.” While some want to keep track of progress, others want to learn something new. From learning more information about something you already know or learning a new skill, it is important to grow and develop. Ms. Worth says, “I hope to get better at the current technology [apple products].” Every student and teacher has new goals for 2023. Change happened in 2022 and will continue to happen in 2023, but Bradley High school is in it together.
