Jag Times Prom challenge provides great opportunity for students to get involved

by Avah Fetzer

Assistant Editor-In-Chief

The following story was written by a student on the staff of The Jaguar Times as part of Hilliard Bradley High School’s Journalism Production course.

As prom season approaches, we (The Jaguar Times) search for a way to either reduce the price of a prom ticket for a few students or gift a free prom ticket to one upperclassman. Additionally, we wanted to be able to incorporate the underclassman as well, which is how we originated the idea of The Jag Times Prom Challenge.

What is it?

After the creation of our Tik Tok account, @officialthejagtimes, we began collecting Tik Tok’s that different teachers across the building made. The idea of this is to show that if the teachers can participate in the challenge, then anyone can! It’s so simple and upperclassmen get a free prom ticket out of it. All you have to do is create a school appropriate Tik Tok on your Tik Tok account, include your name, grade, and our hashtag (#jagtimespromchallenge) in the caption. In order for us to see your video, remember that your account must be a public account. All videos must be posted before Saturday, April eighth to allow time for your videos to gain likes over the weekend. The winner with the most likes will be announced the following Monday, April 11.

If you’re a freshman or sophomore don’t worry because there’s also a separate contest for you! The same rules still apply, but you will win a Chick-Fil-A card, Jersey Mike's coupon, and Bradley T-shirt instead. Regardless of the results, this challenge is meant to be fun. Journalism teacher Miss Braemer says it’s “a great way to get involved with Bradley and The Jag Times in a creative and fun way”. We encourage you to look into the challenge and attempt it!

Why you should participate

Many other Jag Times members also believe you should participate in the challenge. Freshman Grace Savage believes it’s a very good opportunity because in addition to winning a free prom ticket, “it’s very up-to-date with what people are doing”, when referring to Tik Tok. Tik Tok is a very popular social media app which is what makes this challenge fun.

Entering the final weeks of the school year, students often need school activities to keep them going. Editor-In-Chief, Alana Bridges (11) believes this is not only “a fun way to end the school year”, but also a “good way to get involved”. If you are searching for something fun to do or a free prom ticket, consider participating in our challenge!

Feel free to reach out to The Jaguar Times or Miss Braemer with any questions.
