December has arrived and the holiday season is in full swing! Holiday shopping, holiday drinks, and winter break are all the rage. As we approach the final few days of school for the 2021 year, students and teachers eagerly wait for mid terms to be over and winter break to start. Every student has different traditions and ways of celebrating the winter season and the multiple holidays that fall within the few short weeks! The Jaguar Times wants to explore how Bradley students are celebrating the holiday season this year.
Many students at Bradley celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and more.
When talking to Kylee See (11) she said, “I usually go to Kentucky to visit family and decorate the tree and stuff.” This is not abnormal for students and teachers to travel during the snowy month as most people go and visit family and friends that they don’t typically see. While talking to Clara Richardson (11) she mentions that, “I travel a lot for soccer so my family stays in town during winter break and I try to relax with friends and family nearby.” She isn’t the only one who chooses this time to relax with no worries about school. We see many people stay home and take advantage of the time with their loved ones and do things such as decorate their houses and maybe even cookies.
The holiday season is not complete without the important traditions each family participates in. Nathan Brown (10) mentions that his favorite part of Christmas is, “when my family puts up the nativity set together.” Small moments like these make the holidays so special and memorable for many. English teacher and yearbook advisor, Ms.Dyer's favorite holiday tradition is, “putting up the tree and hanging the ornaments because you get to remember the sentimental moments.” Everyone celebrates in a unique way and many love the holidays for this reason in particular.
As 2021 comes to a close and the streets pile with snow as the scent of cookies fills the air, only the warm feeling of the holidays will grow. The Jaguar Times hopes everyone has a safe and happy winter break and is looking forward to seeing everyone in 2022!
