With the holidays coming up and the weather getting colder, you may find yourself wanting to stay inside and watch movies all day. Or maybe you want to be festive and do some adventurous activities with your significant other. There are many date ideas that would be tons of fun, while still staying safe and COVID friendly!
Due to colder temperatures, staying inside can become repetitive and boring. Rather than watching movies with your partner, try building some gingerbread houses. Bella Sullivan (12) says that she finds “making gingerbread houses is a great way to spend quality time together”. She also mentions that couples could “make it into a competition to see who can make a better house”. Having a gingerbread house competition is definitely a great way to stay inside and healthy, while still having fun with your significant other.
Making crafts is another great way to stay warm inside while still having fun. Addison Crace (12) says that her and her boyfriend “made ornaments using flour, salt, and water”. She adds that “it was really fun because [they] had the fireplace going and [they] painted the ornaments together”. Doing fun crafts at home is a perfect way to stay away from big crowds as well! There’s many other craft ideas that are available online that would be a great way to spend time with your partner.
Although it may be difficult to do activities out in public with the spread of COVID, there are still some that take place outdoors and are safe when wearing a mask and social distancing. Leyton Gibson (12) says that “ice skating outside with Christmas lights around the trees and snow falling” is the perfect holiday date idea. He mentions that “ice skating is a lot of fun, especially with a significant other that you get to be next to by a warm fire afterwards”. Ice skating is the perfect outdoor activity that is still COVID friendly and super entertaining with this cold weather.
Another safe outdoor activity could be going around looking at Christmas lights with your significant other. Penellope Kern (12) says that “getting hot cocoa and walking around the neighborhood has been one of the most fun dates [she’s] had this holiday season”. She adds that “it’s simple and costs nothing”. Going on a drive or walk to see the Christmas lights around neighborhoods is the perfect way to relax and enjoy this holiday season.
Some other fun activities to do with your partner during this holiday season could be having a Christmas movie marathon, going out for coffee or hot chocolate, or making Christmas cookies.
With these stressful, past several months, be sure to relax and have some fun this holiday season. Enjoy time with your friends, family, or significant other by trying some of these fun activities, but remember to stay safe!
