CAP club, short for Community Action Planning club, is a group of students who come together to discuss issues inside the walls of Bradley, the Hilliard community, and Society in general. It was established by two senior students Lauren Dame and Hibo Mohamed as leaders and Mr. Bleh, an APUSH teacher, as the adviser.
One of the many ways to impact the Hilliard community is to get involved or create your own club. Hibo Mohamed (12) says, “the club discusses ways to be more active in the community, amplify social issues, and give people a safe place to discuss their issues and give them advice on what action they can take to better it.” I definitely think this will become one of the best student groups at school over the years. Mr. Bleh speaks about what the organization is hoping to accomplish “I hope the club can continue what the class intended, to fight ignorance, to respect human rights , and to build empathy. That helps make sense of the world around us.” Many ways for students to leave a legacy behind at their schools is to get involved in those student groups.
It’s amazing how many extracurriculars Bradley has to offer. Lauren Dame (12) shares her thoughts on why she envisioned this particular club for Bradley “ I took the course and the class wasn’t going to continue so I decided to take some of the curriculum and make it into a club.” I never knew about this course before and it sounds really interesting that students get the opportunity to discuss real life problems and share some of their peer’s issues. Carly Love (12) explains that her favorite part about CAP club is “how obvious everyone wants to be there.” That is a true fact. I went to one of the meetings and everyone was so engaged in the conversation. She elaborates “Everyone is working to educate people around the school on things they’re passionate about and I appreciate that!” The student body should be grateful to all these clubs' hard work that goes into making our community a better place.
If you're looking for a safe space where your voice can be heard and shared with others then this club is perfect for you! CAP is one of the best clubs that Bradley has to offer. CAP meets twice a month on Mondays, stay alert as meeting information pops up and don’t hesitate to join if you are interested!
