Hilliard Bradley theater’s production of Charlie in the Chocolate Factory opens on January 21st. The show tells the story of Charlie Bucket, a boy from a poor family who is given the opportunity of a lifetime after finding one of Willy Wonka’s elusive golden tickets. Full of wonder and whimsy and featuring a colorful cast of characters, this show is bound to entertain all who come to see it.

As Kyle Metzler (11) said, “It’s very different from our previous shows we’ve done this year. It’s very crazy, and you’re going to love it.” In contrast to the realism of Steel Magnolias and the Odd Couple, the fantastical vibe of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is particularly unique.

The cast and crew have been working hard to make this show come to life. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a particularly tech-heavy show, with many set pieces and dramatic lighting that work to immerse the audience in the world of the show.

Micah Gallebo (10), who plays Grandpa Joe, said “It’s a really fun show, and we put a lot of hard work into it. We’ve got a lot of new actors, you might want to come out and support us.” Bradley’s theater troupe has spared no expense in making this show the best it can be.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has received various adaptations over the years, but the play sticks very close to the original novel by Roald Dahl. Madison Sheard (10) had this to say: “I believe everyone should see this hilarious show because it’s a fresh new take on a beloved classic!” If you liked the original story, you’re in for a treat.

Ellis Goodwin, who plays Willy Wonka, (11) shared this sentiment: “It’s one of those shows that kind of never gets old. It’s not really a retelling, but we’ve revamped some parts of it. It’s just fun, you’re going to have fun.” Showtimes are at 7 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 2 PM on Sunday. Mark your calendars, and come support troupe 7415’s latest production!
