2021 has finished as quickly as it arrived. This year like many years prior to it was a potent combination of eventful and impactful on our lives. This year through our individual efforts we collectively tried to recover from the pandemic and return to a sense of normalcy in our everyday lives. This was the theme of the people interviewed by the Jaguar Times. We asked a couple of students to reflect on 2021 and what they hoped for 2022.
Hanan Darwish (11) said her 2021 started off “horrible.” because her “mental health was the lowest that it had ever been. Darwish went on to say that the combination of the pandemic and hybrid learning was very stress inducing and she hopes to never experience it ever again. However, fortunately for Darwish her year turned around during the summer months. She was able to mature and experience new things. She made lots of new friends and upon returning to school in person she joined a lot of clubs and became a leader in some of them. Darwish says that in 2022 she is looking forward to having a “big leadership role at Bradley” and that she’s “manifesting” that she gets into college.
Eric Manring (12) shared a lot of the same sentiments as Darwish. He said that “this school year has been an absolute improvement from last year.” Eric has had the ability to “hang out with his friends more and actually be able to do activities with friends and family.” Manring hopes that in 2022 we can keep working “to return to where we were before the pandemic.”
The sentiment across a plethora of Bradley students remains constant. Students are excited for normalcy to return and for 2022 to be a year that brings more memories and more opportunities to make the most of themselves. So long 2021 and hello 2022!
