With their season coming to an end, the girls volleyball team has shown a lot of growth this season. Varsity has been going strong, with 10 wins and 6 losses so far.

At Bradley, Mr. Borden is the engineering teacher and coach for girls volleyball. He explained that the team has made improvements over the course of the season: “Our teamwork skills and togetherness is a lot better and I also feel that our defense has gotten a lot better. We just cover the whole court very well, everyone moves in unison well together, so I feel like that connectedness and that defense is what got us going a lot this season.”

A player on the team Presley Bobek (10) agrees with coach Borden declaring, “I think we’ve been playing really good and have a lot of sportsmanship. There’s definitely always room for improvement but I think we’ve all brought a lot this season and made a lot of friendships.” Those are qualities that make up a great team.

Having good teamwork and getting along with your teammates also is important to a team’s success. Teamwork is important to Olivia Soloka (11), sharing “making the connections with all the people on the team increases our friendships on the court so we have better chemistry. I really like celebrating our wins together and when we lose it’s really uplifting and we can get through it.” It’s great to be friends with your teammates on and off the court.

Improving as a team is a key part to becoming better but so is self improvement. Getting better yourself also helps the team be better. Gracyn Bleyle (10) thinks it a good idea to improve outside the team, saying, “I worked outside of volleyball with other adults.”It’s a good idea for players to work on their own skills so altogether they can be better as a team.

Overall the girls volleyball team had a great season and made many improvements. They have bonded as a team and have great teamwork.
