The following story was written by a student on the staff of The Jaguar Times as part of Hilliard Bradley High School’s Journalism Production course.
The Eras Tour movie premiered on Friday, Oct. 13 last weekend. Watching the movie was a phenomenal experience. It was amazing seeing everything up close in HD, seeing some things I either missed at the concert or couldn’t view from far away. In my opinion, the production was definitely worth watching.
My only complaint towards the movie was that some of the songs sung at the concert were cut for the final production. This was most likely due to the three hour plus runtime of the show needing to be reduced to be shown in theaters. Luckily, the cut songs were divided between the different eras, so one era was not lacking too many songs compared to others.
While some showtimes had viewers singing and dancing, our theater was much more laid back. MJ Snyder (12) explains “I liked being able to relax and chill during the concert this time, but it was also still an actual event which was nice.” She also mentions “being able to experience the concert with the people I didn’t get to the first time.”
Rylieanne Fidler (10) did not attend the Eras Tour, but saw the concert on film. She enjoyed “seeing all the costume changes and not knowing what was coming next.” She appreciated “seeing the dancers up close because I wouldn’t have been able to do so at the concert.” The movie allows fans who weren’t able to attend the actual tour to experience everything up close.
I appreciate the opportunity given to watch the movie and experience the concert in a whole different way. There were many things watching the movie that made me appreciate Taylor Swift and her outstanding performance even more than I did at the concert in July. Certain songs had performances that went along with the story that I wasn’t able to see from far away, but the movie showed everything so clearly.
I would recommend the Eras movie for any fan that did not go to the concert or already went. It provides a new perspective on the show and the production created a magical experience for the audience.
