Internationally recognized singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift, made the following announcement on her Instagram account: “starting October 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film theaters in North America!”
The tour itself was filmed during the Los Angeles shows for the movie to be produced. The Eras Tour debuted in the middle of March this year, and many shows were added over time due to increasingly high demand. A total of 146 show dates were scheduled for the tour.
AMC revealed to People.com that the film “marked the highest one-day ticket sales revenue for a single film at AMC.” For reference, this beat Spider-Man: No Way Home which earned $16.9 million compared to the $26 million Swift’s film revenued.
Even with a large number of shows, especially across the United States, many fans were not able to obtain tickets to attend the show. Rutbah Kamal (12) claims “[the movie will] help more people feel The Eras Tour experience.”
The Eras Tour movie allows a far wider audience to watch for a more affordable price compared to concert tickets. Sophia Boyd (11) wasn’t able to attend the concert, so she is “excited to be able to experience what I couldn’t at a concert” due to the expensive ticket cost.
Although many Swifties are excited about this opportunity, others who do not consider themselves fans have different takes. Conan Chan (11) says the concept “seems a little shallow to be making more money off of this already extremely profitable tour,” but they also mention being “happy for her fans who didn’t get the concert experience.”
There is nothing new when it comes to demand for the anticipated movie. Fans are excited to see the record-breaking Eras Tour on film in the United States this October for the last time.
