The first two weeks of the 2022-23 NHL season are in the books. While some things haven't surprised us. The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights lead their divisions. The Boston Bruins are also off to a hot start after going 9-1 in their first ten games. Many questions are still unanswered about the new season, but we will cover the things we do know about the young season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have a heavy following here in the Jungle. We talked to some of the biggest CBJ fans here at Bradley. Mr. Heinlen said, “I love the jackets and the sport of Hockey as a whole. However I do not think the Jackets will be heavy favorites for this year's Stanley Cup. Due to lack of depth and defense”. Ben Colombini (12) thinks "the Jackets are primed for another solid year. I think the Jackets will be competitive. I don't think it will result in a championship but I’m glad they are taking good steps." We talked to fans of other teams and got their perspective on the season. Peyton Hayes (12) said "I’m a huge fan of the Sharks and our team took some losses in the offseason, but we are still very competitive."
Overall there are only a few teams separating themselves from the pack. It’s a long season and many teams can still emerge. That’s the joy of an 82 game season. Each team has one goal and that is to hold up the Stanley Cup trophy and be pronounced champions.
